Shifting Gears

About 12 years ago, I started CopyRanger.com blog as a personal statement.

People generally loved it.

This was during the Great Recession.

Copywriters, digital marketers and businesses owners appreciated my no-holds-barred sharing of copywriting ideas that worked. At the time, I felt like I had something to contribute.

Then as fate would have it, I got busy… super busy, writing copy for others, instead of for myself.

To keep the website’s momentum, I turned CopyRanger.com into a curated site, filled the best digital marketing articles I could find online at the time.

People, especially marketers, loved it. And in about a year, it became one of the top sites in the world.

But as you can imagine, it’s still a lot of time to make sure only the best articles were curated.

Not to mention I was dealing with a grave health crisis, and it was taking a toll on me.

I couldn’t straddle the blog plus writing for others.

I ultimately abandoned it. CopyRanger.com has collected digital dust since 2016, as I figured out what to do with it.

I investigated selling it, for which I found a multitude of buyers who wanted the traffic. But selling it just didn’t feel right, so I held onto it.

I’d check into the WordPress dashboard every one in a while and watched the analytics slowly fall.

But I didn’t care. I had to prioritize…

As I write this, the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown is being lifted and businesses will be re-opening. I’m exceedingly hopeful things will return to some semblance of normal. And again, I think I have something to contribute.

I’m launching CopyRanger.com again because I believe I can make a personal impact. Not because I need the work. (Along with everything else I’ve got on my plate, I’m building out a 9-acre organic farm in Hawaii.)

Nonetheless, I’m getting older. Along with the coronavirus, I’ve become acutely aware of my mortality.

I’m 62, as a write this. Still creative and passionate as the first time I wrote a sales letter to my clients back in 1991. (Which as I recall, I made about $45K and forever addicted me to copywriting.)

After owning a technology firm for 25 years… after writing direct response copy for 30 years… after becoming one of the top marketing consultants out there… I’ve acquired a ton of business wisdom.

Not just knowledge… not just information… but wisdom.

It’s time for me to start downloading what I know about writing copy… getting conversions… finding customers and clients and taking care of them.

For instance, I can tell you THE THREE BIGGEST THINGS which make the most difference in your conversions.

If gurus say something like “it’s the offer, stupid.”, it’s BS. It’s not. It’s not your headline or even your design.

What are they?

Well, stay tuned and I’ll share someday.

But it’s things like that, I’ll share. Gratis.

You see, I believe it would be a travesty if everything I knew about marketing and copywriting just poof… disappeared. So I’ve decided to spill my guts, and get it all out there.

I have no life-threatening disease, no particular timeline, no desire to be a “marketing guru.” Been there, done that.

Just raw, unmitigated passion.

Passion to see other people successful. (Plus admittedly, I have several things to get off my chest.)

So watch your inbox.

If things go as planned, I think you’ll be excited.
