While the release date of the much-anticipated Apple Watch is still a few weeks away, early indicators suggest it will achieve resounding success. According to a new survey by Reuters, almost 40 percent of Apple iPhone users (which is north of 100 million) have expressed a degree of interest in purchasing the device.

If even a fraction of those millions follow through on their verbal interest, then tens of millions of these smart watches could be in mainstream circulation by as early as the summer. If 20, 30, or 40-million-plus Apple Watches turn up on the wrists of consumers, it’ll be hard for this new technology not to have a significant impact on digital marketing — and social media in particular.
