To glean insight on subject lines and how they relate to effective email marketing campaigns, Alchemy Worx analyzed 21 billion marketing emails sent by 2,500 brands, discovering which words positively and negatively impacted open rates.

According to Alchemy Worx, words that increased open rates the most were “upgrade,” “just,” and “content.” On the other hand, some words in the subject line negatively impacted open rates. The worst offenders were “miss,” “deals,” and “groovy.”
